Suwilaawksa Sm'algya̱x

(Learning Sm'algya̱x)

These Language Resources are based on the Sm’algya̱x Curriculum developed for Grades 5 to 12 by the Sm’algya̱x Language Committee for use in School District 52, Prince Rupert. They are intended to be used with the curriculum in schools and for members of the public who are interested in learning Sm’algya̱x on their own. The language materials were recorded by the Sm’algya̱x Language Teachers, including Doug Brown, Marjorie Brown, Alex Campbell, Sampson Collinson, Theresa Lowther, Elinor Mason, and Velna Nelson. Support people involved in the project were Margaret Anderson, Ken Campbell and Debbie Leighton-Stephens.

Thank you to the Ts'msyen Sm'algya̱x Authority for the guidance and input towards the revitalization of our Sm'algya̱x language. Thank you to the First Peoples' Heritage Language and Culture Council for funding this valuable project.

Please enjoy access to the sound files we have provided. The full set of files is also available for purchase at Wap Sigatgyet.
